Today we unveiled our memorial to PS David Thomas Winter of North Yorkshire Police.

PS Winter received a report of a suspicious man in Old Malton, North Yorkshire by the Post Office. On arrival at the scene, Sergeant Winter was confronted by the killer of PC David Haigh and shot dead.

David was just thirty one years of age.

The memorial, which was unveiled by our Chair Mrs Geraldine Winner is located to the left of The Royal Oak Public House, Old Malton.

This is The Police Memorial Trust’s fifty eighth memorial honouring officers who have sacrificed their lives whilst carrying out their hazardous duties.
