Police Constable Guthrie’s memorial has been temporarily removed for repairs.
PC Peter Guthrie QPM
We have now unveiled our memorial to Police Constable Peter Charles Guthrie QPM of the Warwickshire & Coventry Constabulary.
The unarmed officer shot and murdered in 1972 whilst trying to arrest a suspect who had broken into a gun shop.
Peter was only twenty one years of age.
He was later posthumously awarded the Queen’s Police Medal for Gallantry.
The memorial, which was unveiled by our Chair Mrs Geraldine Winner is sited on Far Gosford Street in Coventry near to where the officer lost his life.
This is our fifty fifth memorial and the first to have a QR code on it. When scanned it takes you to Peter’s page on our website.
