Metropolitan Police

Sgt King, a patrolling officer from Chingford in north-east London, stopped to question a man who was wanted on suspicion of handling stolen goods. Unaware of his hatred of police and the brief orgy of murder and burglary on which he had embarked, the man brutally stabbed Sgt King. He was posthumously awarded the Queen’s Commendation for Brave Conduct in 1995.
