On 19th November 1993 whilst serving with The City of London Police Force, Police commander Moore QPM attempted to arrest a man in Old Jewry that he suspected to be a bogus charity worker collecting for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. Commander Moore died in hospital on 4th December 1993 as a result of injuries sustained during this arrest.

Commander Moore QPM is the highest ranking Police Officer to be honoured by The Police Memorial Trust and is the first Police Memorial to be unveiled to a member of the City of London Police Force.
