He was 36 years of age and married with a young child.

Today we remember Special Constable Glenn Goodman of the North Yorkshire Police who was shot and murdered on this day in 1992 by terrorists.
In the early hours of the morning the officer was on mobile patrol with his colleague, P.C Sandy Kelly, in the Tadcaster area of North Yorkshire. Both officers were unarmed.
Their attention was drawn to a car which they decided to stop. Unbeknown to the officers the car contained two armed terrorists.
After questioning the men P.C Kelly returned to the police car to verify their details via his radio. S.C Goodman remained with the car. At this point the passenger got out and without any warning shot the officer at point blank range, hitting him in the chest.
Glenn was 37 years old, married with a baby son. He was later posthumously awarded The Queen’s Commendation for Bravery.
The gunman also shot P.C Kelly who although he survived
was left seriously injured.
In May 1994 we erected our memorial to his Glenn’s service and sacrifice at the junction of Wetherby Road and Station Road in Tadcaster.
RIP SC Glenn. A true hero, tragically taken too early, who will never be forgotten

Today we rememberd Police Constable Ronan McCloskey of the Metropolitan Police who was killed on this day in 1987.
The officer was on his first night duty when he stopped a car to speak to the driver. Realising the driver was drunk P.C McCloskey attempted to arrest him. As he did so the man drove off dragging the officer for half a mile before crashing the car.
As a direct result of the driver’s criminal actions to escape arrest he inflicted terrible injuries to the officer from which he died.
Ronan was just 25 years old.
We placed our memorial in remembrance of his service and sacrifice at the corner of Dudden Hill Land & Denzil Road, London in March 1989.
How absolutely appalling; his poor family 😔
Remember this awful murder of a young cop. Rest in eternal peace young man. 💙🙏🏻👮🏻♀️👮

So sad I remember it well RIP we will never forget
I do despair. @itvnews you should be ashamed, such an ill conceived, sensational and offensive comment. Those officers thought they were going to die, they are heroes. Your grubby, suggestive commentary is sadly becoming typical of what we expect from some media. Shame on you.
