DC Morrison was off duty in the Covent Garden area when he witnessed a handbag theft and gave chase. The suspect was cornered in Montreal Place where DC Morrison was fatally stabbed. He was posthumously awarded the Queen’s Gallantry Medal.

DC Jim Morrison QGM – 25th Anniversary
Prior to the 25th year of DC Jim Morrison’s death, the Police Memorial Trust added the letters QGM to the Memorial in readiness for the anniversary of his death.
DC Morrison was posthumously awarded The Queen’s Gallantry Medal.
Additionally, the memorial was sand blasted and refurbished in his honour.
