PC John William Kew
Today we unveiled our memorial to PC John William Kew of West Riding Constabulary.
PC Kew attended a property to make routine enquiries over threats to the community being told that one of the residents had recently purchased a gun and ammunition. He was shot twice and died shortly afterwards.
John was just thirty years of age.
The memorial, which was unveiled by our Chair Mrs Geraldine Winner is located at Kew Court, Swinton, Mexborough.
This is The Police Memorial Trust’s fifty sixth memorial honouring officers who have sacrificed their lives whilst carrying out their hazardous duties.
